Description and Purpose
Fire is one of the most costly causes of
damage and loss of life in a facility. Fire alarm systems supervise the
facility for
smoke,
heat,
fire sprinkler
water flow and its
PIV, and the
activation of a
manual pull
station. In addition, the facility may require supervision of a
Knox Box,
HVAC
damper
control and
elevator recall capabilities.

Solving Intrusion Issues
There are a number of critical issues that are
solved with fire alarm system.
When designing a fire alarm system, the most important issue is fast
detection, notification, and evacuation.
Locate
Smoke Detectors in hallways, business offices, break rooms, and
restrooms.
Locate
Heat Detectors in dusty areas like warehouses, attics, basements, or
in shop environments.
Locate
Manual Pull Stations next to exit doors and
emergency doors.
Monitor the Fire Suppression Sprinkler System
using Fire Sprinkler
Water Flow sensors. Supervise all supply valves to ensure that they
remain open and in service.
Moving the Elevator to the proper floor and
disabling it requires
Elevator Recall capabilities.
The HVAC system normally distributes air
throughout a facility.
Damper Control causes the airflow to be suspended from areas where
smoke is being drawn into the HVAC system to minimize the spread of smoke
within the facility.
