While
operators monitor system status, it is important to provide a means of calling
attention to certain events. The system’s relay outputs can provide a means of
sounding horns, illuminating indicators, or otherwise calling attention to a
critical event locally. Moreover, relay outputs can provide a way to connect
external dialers that can report alarms to distant monitoring stations. The
system can also use relay outputs to control external systems when needed. When
a system has more relay outputs, it has a capacity to trigger more external
systems, alarms, or other automated processes.
