A major
advantage of using an Access Control system is its tireless ability to record
events for future review. The system stores events for items like:
- User access granted
- Access attempted and denied
(for reason)
- Door forced alarms
-
Door propped open alarms
When
selecting a printer, consider two options:
- Single-line printers are useful when the system prints
events as they occur, and for printing history. Because the printer receives an
prints events as they occur, consider selecting a printer that uses
tractor-feed paper to minimize servicing the printer for paper outages.
-
Most laser printers are “page printers” and are not useful
for live event printing.
As an alternative to using
a printer for collecting live events, consider using report software to collect
events for review on a computer monitor. This saves paper and allows for deeper
analysis of user activity.
