To enhance
the system’s logging capabilities, consider collecting facial images to
associate with user names in the system. The system can:
- Store images and use them in database queries.
- Capture images for printing card holder images onto the access card to
create an ID badge.* Presenting the badge to system readers allows the user to
gain access into selected doors controlled by the system.
- Allowing system operators
to review recorded activity from an integrated video system and compare
participant images with stored images from the Access Control system user
database.
Enrollment
areas are typically located in the location’s Human Resources or Security
office as activities are generally related to hiring and releasing of
personnel. Large campus applications for student entry identification may
require more than one enrollment station. Creating an enrollment area requires
system designers to set aside space for a camera on a mount or tripod, and a
seat for individuals to sit while being photographed. Consider setting aside an
office or cubical about 8x8 feet. Also provide the brightness of light suitable
for adequate camera image exposure. Alternatively, enrollment stations can also
allow importing of digital images from digital cameras or scanners.
