BP has chosen Honeywell Video Systems for the supply of
all CCTV equipment for the BP owned petrol station forecourts in the UK. This
is a two phase project that involves the upgrade from analogue to digital video
systems, followed by the upgrade of the original digital systems to the
Honeywell Digital Video Recorder (DVR).
Phase one was completed in July. Phase two will happen,
over the next 18 months, on a priority basis until all of the 400 - BP owned
petrol forecourt sites in the UK have been up-graded. BP’s Retail Security
Advisor David Godber comments: “Crime in general is on the increase within the
retail sector. Petrol stations are now competing with the convenience market
selling a diverse range of products and facilities to all types of customers.
Cameras can be an effective crime deterrent if the supporting recording
equipment can provide high quality video evidence. Like at any other retail
site the vast majority of customers are law-abiding, but there are some who,
unfortunately, are not. The Honeywell system gives us excellent picture
quality, and what’s more, it’s really easy for our operators to use and produce
images and recordings for the police.” CCTV specialists AGE Electrical have been
responsible for the installation and maintenance at the BP forecourts for the
past 14 years. AGE constantly evaluate products to ensure that BP is provided
with the best security system.
Honeywell’s HRHD, 16-way multiplexing DVR was trialed for
four months, from Jan to April this year, at one of BP’s largest sites, on the
M8 motorway in Scotland. The Honeywell HRHD DVR proved to be the most reliable
and easy to use with the best picture quality. AGE’s Director Jason Gargiulo
comments: “The service from Honeywell is second to none regarding repairs or
replacing equipment. Value for money and picture quality are equally important
factors when choosing the right system, as are operations – it is vital that the
equipment is easy to use for forecourt staff. This is why we have specified
Honeywell throughout.”
The successful outcome has confirmed Honeywell as the
partner of choice for the BP Forecourts. Products supplied by Honeywell include
DVRs, speed domes, internal static cameras and flat screen monitors. Dave
Kowolik, Honeywell Video Sales Manager was responsible for the successful
project win. Dave has been working with AGE for more than 12 years, he comments:
“AGE have been using Honeywell equipment for the past two years and I am
delighted that the new Honeywell HRHD DVR brings all the right components to
meet the needs of BP petrol forecourt sites.” |
