Honeywell Adds Two New Sensors to 5800 PIR Wireless Family

Cold Temperature Alert and Long Range Patterns Help Dealers Increase RMR, Expand Commercial Installation Opportunities

MELVILLE, N.Y., July 26, 2010 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today released the 5800PIR and 5800PIR-COM Wireless Indoor Motion Detectors, the newest members of the company’s 5800PIR family of wireless sensors.

The first model in the series, the compact, easy-to-install 5800PIR-RES, was released in February of 2010. Notable features included minimal mounting height restrictions, an automatic walk test mode, longer-life end-user replaceable batteries, pet immunity to 80 pounds and a custom-paintable exterior. The new 5800PIR and 5800PIR-COM contain even more features designed to help security dealers increase RMR and expand their opportunities in the commercial sector.

The new 5800PIR contains all of the features of the basic model, plus a cold temperature alert that warns occupants when temperatures fall below 45 degrees, and can be integrated with Total Connect Remote Services to provide dealers with more opportunities for recurring monthly revenue. It contains a self-test feature that can alert occupants and the central station if the detector stops functioning and lets installers turn on the walk test mode with a flashlight—saving them two trips up a ladder.

The 5800PIR also provides the ability to be set for pet immunity or program low temperature sensing at the site or remotely from the dealer’s office, helping to reduce service calls.

The robust 5800PIR-COM has long range patterns (60’ x 80’ or 100 x 20’) and can operate in unheated areas with temperatures as low as -4° F/-20° C—making it ideal for commercial installations. It contains all of the features of the 5800PIR-RES and 5800PIR, with the exception of pet immunity.
