Honeywell and Rebuilding Together Long Island Partner to Assist Elderly Residents in Need

Volunteers Install Wheelchair Ramps for New Hyde Park and North Massapequa, N.Y. Residents

MELVILLE, N.Y., June 22, 2009 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) and Rebuilding Together Long Island earlier this month completed a two-day effort to assist two elderly people confined to their homes by wheelchair. The volunteers, including eight Honeywell employees and executives, donated their time to install wheelchair ramps at the two homes in New Hyde Park and North Massapequa on June 1-2.

Honeywell supports many Rebuilding Together projects throughout the United States, including previous projects in New York. The company has approximately 600 employees based in the area.

"Whether it’s installing a wheelchair ramp or completely renovating a home for a family in need, it’s important for organizations to support their communities in any way possible," said Ron Rothman, president of Honeywell Security & Communications. "It’s a great feeling to give back to a community that has supported Honeywell for many years." Rebuilding Together Long Island repairs and rehabilitates the homes of poor, elderly and disabled homeowners. The non-profit organization brings together people of all faiths and walks of life in an effort to assist people in need. “Working as a team was a rewarding experience for both groups, but the greatest reward came when one of the people we helped was wheeled out of the house and down to the street,” said Joe Botkin, Rebuilding Together Long Island vice president. “The tears of gratitude said it all.”
